Some volunteering events ask you to submit documentation, such as a certificate or ID, before you attend. This article explains how to find and complete these requirements.
Before you start
- Requirements only appear on an event if the organiser has configured at least one for that event.
- You'll need to have registered for a volunteering session, or be viewing an event you're considering registering for.
- If you're browsing an event you haven't registered for yet, selecting Complete here opens the confirmation page in Preview mode so you can check the requirements before committing:
- All form fields (dietary requirements, volunteer leave, manager details, phone number, message to coordinator) are read-only.
- You'll see Sign up details, where you can select a session, enter the number of volunteers, and select Sign up to register.
Complete requirements for a volunteering event
Step 1. Access your requirements
You can reach your requirements in two ways:
- From the event page, go to the Requirements section and select Complete here. This opens the volunteer registration confirmation page in the same tab.
- From the email notification you received, select the Confirm registration link or Submit requirements button. This also redirects you to the volunteer registration confirmation page.
Step 2. Complete each listed requirement
On the confirmation page, requirements appear first, followed by the document submission section, then any questions, then the remaining registration details. For each requirement:
- If the organiser provided a website link, you'll see a Complete here link — select it to open the external site in a new tab.
- If the organiser attached a file, you'll see a Download file link — select it to download the document to your device.
Step 3. Submit your completed documents
In the Document requirement submission section, you may see:
- A link to the organiser's upload location — select it to open in a new tab and upload your file there.
- One or more email addresses with a copy icon — select the icon to copy the address(es) to your clipboard. You'll see the message "Email address(es) copied to your clipboard."
- Other instructions from the organiser, shown at the bottom of the section.
Note: Only the fields the organiser filled in will display — any left blank are hidden automatically. If none were filled in, this entire section won't appear.
Step 4. Review any additional requirements
- If the organiser added notes in the Additional requirements field, you'll see this displayed on the confirmation page. BUG
Confirmation and next steps
Once you've reviewed your requirements, submitted your documents (via the provided link, email, or upload location), and checked any additional requirements notes, your part is complete on the platform side.
- Requirement submission happens outside the platform — via the organiser's external link, uploaded file download, or email address. The platform doesn't track a "submitted" status for individual requirements, so make sure you've actually sent or uploaded your documents through the method the organiser specified.
- You can return to the volunteer registration confirmation page at any time before the event to review the requirements again, re-download files, or re-copy the submission email address.
- If you need to cancel your registration, you can do so from this same confirmation page. Learn more about cancelling volunteer registrations.
